It's like the never-ending promise of a series that will never end.
 
In 1984 The Terminator was sent back to kill Sarah Connor in the classic beginning of this story "The Terminator."
 
In 1991 The Terminator protected Sarah and John Connor from the T-100 in "Judgment Day"
 
In 2003 the Connor's were threatened by the T-X in "Rise of the Machines"
 
In 2008-2009 31 episodes of "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" tried to keep Sarah Connor alive…before the series was terminated.
 
And in 2009 Christian Bale tried to give life to John Connor once again bring "Salvation" to the movie franchise.
 
And today…

He's Back!
 
July 1st, nationwide Paramount Pictures releases Terminator Genisys. The newest revision of the Terminator series, which has Director Alan Taylor (best known for Thor:The Dark World) at the helm.
And of course, now that Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former Governor of California (2003-2011) has stepped down from office, he can once again step back into his Terminator shoes to deliver unto us the witty one liners we all want to quote.
 
In Terminator Genisys, Kyle Reese (Jia Courtney from Divergent & A Good Day To Die Hard) is sent back by John Connor (Jason Clarke of Zero Dark Thirty & Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) to protect his mother as well as the destiny of the future resistance. Kyle is sent back to 1984 (of course) and upon arriving, he finds that not only the original Terminator was sent back to kill Sarah Connor, so was a T-1000 to stop him in his efforts as well. The only thing is….Sarah's not an innocent, naive waitress….she's a trained soldier with a Terminator that was sent back to protect her as a child. Yes, the timeline has shifted and what we knew, or what we thought we knew, is all gone! Sarah (Emilia Clarke, or as we know her as the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones) is prepared to jump thru time to 1997 to prevent Judgment day, but Kyle who now has memories of a past and future that wasn't his till the jump back in time, convinces her to change the date to 2017 where Skynet is about to launch a new operating system called Genisys which will tie in your iPhone, iPad, TV, car, pretty much everything you own making everything interconnected. The bigger problem is the Government has their weapons systems online as well which would be tied into Genisys and ya know where this is going don't you?
 
That's the biggest problem with Terminator Genisys is we already know what is going to happen. In fact we've seen this all already! The rousing "Independence Day" speech, the vehicle dangling off the edge and yet the leads are pulled to safety from "Jurassic Park The Lost World", The bus flipping over like the Joker's truck in "The Dark Knight" and chase sequences that remind you of every other chase sequence you've seen before with very little new or inventive. We all want to be blown away by a good chase sequence but give us something new! Something creative that will wow us! Basically it's as if all the best parts of all the previously released Terminator Movies were written down on playing cards, shuffled and re-dealt in a new hand. It's really sad because this is a movie from my childhood that me, and so many others were awed at. It was like nothing we've ever seen before and couldn't get enough! I never even watched any of the trailers before going into seeing Terminator Genisys, and it's a good thing that I didn't, because the newest 2.5 minute trailer shows pretty much the entire storyline leaving very little to be surprised with.
 
Sure the CGI is nothing short of amazing, but seriously, with what computers can do now, we expect nothing less than amazing! There is a moment when they do a close up of the digitally created younger Terminator and you can see light glisten in his eyes, and if you didn't know any better, you'd think it was really Arnold! Even Arnold's multitude of one-liners, and in this movie he has a ton, doesn't save this reboot for me.
 
Now I will say this, for the younger generation that didn't live through the originals, they may enjoy it. Tons of stuff blows up and it really doesn't make you have to think, which I think is the main formula for summer movies these days. But for the Terminator die-hards, you'll be left thinking "I've seen this all before" and even worse than that, this is the second time you'll be paying to hear the words "Come with Me If You Want To Live."
 
I will tell you this. In the middle of the credits there is a bonus scene, which of course leaves the door open for the sequel "Untitled Terminator 2", which is scheduled to be released in May of 2017. Which just goes to prove when Arnold says "I'll be back" he means it, over and over, and over again!
 
I give Terminator Genisys 2.5 gigabytes out of 5, which is nowhere enough memory to get the Genisys program up and running!
