Matthew Vaughn To Direct X-Men: First Class
As reported yesterday in the trades, Matthew Vaughn was the front runner to direct the upcoming film, "X-Men: First Class". Now that he is officially on board with the project, things are moving along fast with production. The film is slated for a June 3, 2011 release date, and production will begin this summer, according to Variety.

Bryan Singer will be producing the film alongside Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg. Singer had directed the first two "X-Men" film and developed the story for "First Class".

Singer said, "I've been a fan of Matthew's since 'Layer Cake. He has a deft hand with multiple characters and storylines, and a great love of the X-Men universe. I feel the combination of this story and his vision will make for an exciting and original X-Men film."
