Sad news coming out of Hollywood, top film director Tony Scott has died in an apparent suicide after jumping from a bridge in Los Angeles, he was 68.
The younger brother of "Prometheus" director Ridley Scott was born in North Shields, England in 1944 and had visions of becoming a painter, but was persuaded into film by his brother, His early career was spent in front of the camera he longed to get the other side and direct.
Spending many years learning his trade, he got his break in 1982 when MGM asked him to shoot "The Hunger", which in turn caught the eye of producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer who asked him to direct "Top Gun". From then on, he never looked back chalking up hits like "Beverly Hills Cop II", "The Last Boy Scout", "True Romance", "Crimson Tide", "Enemy Of The State", "The Taking Of Pelham 123" and his most recent work "Unstoppable" starring Denzel Washington.
US Coast Guard are reporting a suicide note was found inside Mr Scott's car. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
