Disney has decided that they will be passing on releasing any more of the "Star Wars" prequels in 3D, according to Deadline. The decision most likely comes directly as a result from the poor performance of "Episode I: The Phantom Menace" that was released in February of 2012.
The film only debuted with $23 million domestically, and was looked at as simply another way for George Lucas to make money, rather than provide quality entertainment to the fans. Originally, all 6 films were to get re-released in the 3D format, with "Episode II: Attack Of The Clones" (first released on May 16, 2002) being released in 3D on September 20th, 2013, and "Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith" (first released on May 19, 2005) in 3D on October 11, 2013.
The next film in the "Star Wars" franchise, which will be written by Michael Arndt, will be released in 2015.
