It has been announced that Amazon Studios has acquired the rights to "Annette", a music filled drama. The film will star Adam Driver ("Star wars: The last Jedi", "Girls") and Rihanna and will be directed by Leos Carax ("Holy Motors").
The script for the film was written by Sparks, an art-rock band founded by Ron and Russell Mael back in 1971. This will mark the English speaking debut for Carax who worked on "Boy Meet Girl," "Mauvais Sang," "Les Amants du Pont Neuf," as well as the aforementioned "Holy Motors".
Filming is set to begin in the spring, and will boast many international locations.
Adam Driver has been keeping busy, with the end of "Girls" on HBO, and his recurring role in the "Star Wars" franchise as Kylo Ren.
Amazon's film business has made quite and impression, and has been quite successful so far. They are responsible for Oscar winning "Manchester by the Sea" and "The Salesman." They have many upcoming projects, as well, including "The Big Sick", "The Only Living Boy in New York", "Long Strange Trip"; and "Wonderstruck".
