"The Irishman", which debuted last week on Netflix, has been viewed by over 26 million accounts, according to the streaming giant.
Netflix also said that they expect the film to be viewed by over 40 million accounts within its first 28 days of release. Ted Sarandos, Netflix's chief content officer, spoke about the blockbuster film while at UBS's Global TMT Conference in New York.
"When you think about that, people understand the value proposition of a big new movie this week at Netflix. It translates into how they value Netflix," said Sarandos.
The Golden Globe-nominated, three and a half-hour long Martin Scorsese film stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci and tells the story of mob hitman Frank Sheeran.
