"I Know What You Did Last Summer" will be making a comeback from Sony Pictures, with some of the original cast to star. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are said to be in talks to reprise their roles from the franchise.
Launched in 1997, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" spawned two follow-up films titled "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" and "I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer", as well as a TV series that streamed on Amazon for one season.
The original film follows four teens who are involved in a hit-and-run accident with a pedestrian and are now stalked by some stranger who knows of their scandalous secret with deadly outcomes.
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe starred alongside Hewitt and Prinze Jr. in the original. "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer," starred Hewitt, Brandy, Mekhi Phifer, and Matthew Settle; and "I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer" starred Brooke Nevin, David Paetkau, Torrey DeVitto, Ben Easter, and Don Shanks.
The franchise has earned over $200 million at the global box office.
