Four-time Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke, alongside Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and Miguel Mora, are set to reprise their roles in the upcoming "Black Phone 2". The sequel, following the success of the 2022 hit, promises to captivate audiences once again with its chilling narrative and stellar cast. Directed by Scott Derrickson and co-written by Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, the film is slated for a theatrical release on June 27, 2025.
The first installment of "Black Phone" proved to be a triumph for Blumhouse-Crooked Highway Production-Universal collaboration. The film garnered over $161 million worldwide, emerging as a sleeper hit in the summer's rebound from the shadow of the Covid pandemic. It also boasted an estimated net of $68 million in profit. The film also received widespread acclaim, boasting an 81% certified fresh critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and an impressive 88% approval rating from audiences.
"Black Phone 2" will mark the ninth feature collaboration between Jason Blum's Blumhouse and Ethan Hawke. Aside from "The Black Phone", their previous joint ventures include "The Purge", "Sinister 1 & 2", "In a Valley of Violence", "Adopt a Highway", "Hamlet", and "Stockholm".
