Sony's TriStar Pictures, in collaboration with Eli Roth, is set to bring back the notorious John Carver for a sequel to the film that achieved a global box office gross of $30 million within its initial two weeks, maintaining an impressive second-week hold at -31%.

With a remarkable 83% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, "Thanksgiving" stands as Roth's highest-rated film to date. The eagerly awaited sequel is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release in 2025 under the TriStar Pictures banner.

The genesis of "Thanksgiving" lies in the creative partnership between Eli Roth and Jeff Rendell, who crafted the story during their childhood days attending slasher films. The concept evolved into one of several mock movie trailers featured in the 2007 cult film "Grindhouse" by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. Roth, having harbored the desire to transform it into a full-length feature for many years, envisions Carver once again terrorizing revelers on the Thanksgiving holiday in Plymouth, MA.

Roth directed and produced the original film alongside Roger Birnbaum and Jeff Rendell. The star-studded cast included Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman, Gina Gershon, and Tim Dillon.
