Geena Davis, an Academy Award® recipient, is set to be honored with the Viola Davis Trailblazer Award at this year's CinemaCon, announced by Mitch Neuhauser, the Managing Director of the event. The ceremony, scheduled for April 11th at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace, will be hosted by The Coca-Cola Company.
"Geena Davis exemplifies the true essence of a trailblazer in Hollywood for not only her remarkable film career, but also in her tireless advocacy championing underrepresented voices in film and other forms of media," noted Neuhauser. "We could not be more honored to present her with the second ever Viola Davis Trailblazer Award."
Davis, known for her acclaimed roles in films like "The Accidental Tourist," "Thelma & Louise," and "A League of Their Own," has also made significant contributions as the Founder and Chair of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media. This non-profit organization focuses on promoting authentic portrayals of diverse populations in entertainment.
Moreover, Davis has been involved in impactful projects as an Executive Producer, including the documentary "This Changes Everything" and the TV show "Mission Unstoppable." Her commitment to advancing gender representation in media has earned her accolades, including the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
At CinemaCon, Davis will also participate in selecting the Grand Prize-winning film for The Coca-Cola Refreshing Films program, in collaboration with her Bentonville Film Festival. The winning film, along with three other entries, will be showcased during the convention, highlighting Davis's ongoing dedication to supporting emerging talent in the industry.
