Netflix has announced that the fifth and final season of "Stranger Things", which debuted in 2016, is set to premiere in 2025. Netflix also released a special video revealing the episode titles for this concluding season, bringing the supernatural journey in Hawkins, Indiana to its epic finale. This was to commemorate November 6, 1983, known as "Stranger Things Day" - the day when Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) disappeared into the Upside Down.
The titles of the last eight episodes are as follows: "The Crawl," "The Vanishing of…," "The Turnbow Trap," "Sorcerer," "Shock Jock," "Escape From Camazotz," "The Bridge," and "The Rightside Up."
It appears that the titles and the upcoming episodes give a nod to previous episodes, such as "The Vanishing of…", which echoes the series premiere, "The Vanishing of Will Byers". The omission of the name could mean a new character disappearing in this upcoming season. Also, the Season 1 finale was titled "The Upside Down," and now, the series finale has been titled "The Rightside Up".
"The Turnbow Trap" possibly refers to Turnbow Land Development & Realty, a local Hawkins business hinted at in March on co-creator Ross Duffer's Instagram, where he shared an eerie Upside Down version of the company's billboard. "Shock Jock," appears to reference WSQK, a radio station also featured in Duffer's posts. "Escape From Camazotz," seems to be inspired by A Wrinkle in Time, Madeleine L'Engle's classic sci-fi novel, where the planet Camazotz is controlled by dark forces known as the Black Thing and IT.
We also now know that the final season will take place in the fall of 1987, marking four years since the events of Season 1.
