On Thursday, July 24th, 2008, FlickDirect reported that "The Dark Knight" had shattered the record for reaching the $200 million mark.  Now, once again, more record-breaking news about the film's earnings has been reported.

"The Dark Knight" has grossed $314.2 million in 10 days.  Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest was the previous record holder, reaching their $300 million mark in 16 days.  After Monday, the film will have officially surpassed Iron Man and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as being the biggest movie of 2008 domestically.

The film is also #23 on the all-time domestic blockbuster list.  Most say it has a good shot at passing Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope's $460.998 million to become the second-biggest domestic earner of all time. "Titanic" earned $600.788 million.
