Universal Aquires Rights To Fantasy Epic, Wheel of Time
"The Wheel of Time", the late Robert Jordan's bestselling novel series, will be adapted into a film.  Universal Pictures has acquired the rights, according to Variety. 

The book series has sold more than 44 million copies worldwide.  It also has been the basis for computer, trading-card and role-playing games; a soundtrack; and comic books.

"The Eye of the World", the first in the novel series, will be the first adaption created.  The series follows Rand al'Thor, the latest incarnation of a force for good called "The Dragon." Rand is born to fight an evil character called Shai'tan.

Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon will be producing the film.
