Disney Cuts Back Budget on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Times are tough in this economy, even in Hollywood.

According to The Los Angeles Times, Disney has imposed a cut back budget on the upcoming "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" film. The $200 million budget is less than the 2 latest films in the franchise, which cost $225 million for the second and $300 million for the third. The original film cost only $140 million to make.

The film's producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, is said to be "scrambling" to meet the budget before shooting begins June 14. The cutbacks include visual effect shots that numbered around 2,000, cut back to 1,300. There will also be more land based filming to save on costs. Bruckherimer commented on the budget cuts, stating that he had to "make painful decisions that cut into some very entertaining sequence
