Supergirl is another citizen of Krypton who fled the planet at the same time as the Superman did when he was a baby. And since the rumors of a possible new direction for Superman are swirling, some see this as a way to start all over again with his films.
The CW has aired a Supergirl TV series starring Melissa Benoist since 2015 and Superman has been portrayed by Henry Cavill in the last set of the franchise's films. It's not known whether or not he will appear, or Superman at all for that matter, in this film.
Oren Uziel has worked on Mortal Kombat, 22 Jump Street, and The Cloverfield Paradox. He is also working with John Krasinski in an upcoming untitled project.
