Director John Singleton on Life Support After Suffering Stroke
Director John Singleton is now on life support after suffering from a stroke nearly two weeks ago. His publicist, Shannon Barr, told CNN the news.

Singleton, who is 51, had a major stroke on April 17 and was even reported dead on Monday, but his publicist quickly dispelled those rumors.

As to what his exact condition is, we don't know. There are varying reports from his own family members. His daughter, Cleopatra Singleton stated in a court filing that "Although they do not have a concrete diagnosis, my dad is progressing every day...he is only medically sedated to keep his blood pressure low and allow the vessels in his brain to heal". This filing was in response to Singleton's mother, Sheila Ward, and her filing which claimed Singleton was "in a coma and is unable to provide for his personal needs" or "manage his financial resources."

The director co-created the FX show "Snowfall", which was renewed last year for a third season. He was nominated for an Oscar for 1991's "Boyz n the Hood" and also worked on "Poetic Justice," "Higher Learning," "2 Fast 2 Furious" and 2000's "Shaft."
