It has been announced that "Dune" will indeed be getting a sequel. The film has been greenlit for an October 2023 release.
The news was announced on Legendary and Warner Bros. social media accounts, saying "This is only the beginning... Thank you to those who have experienced @dunemovie so far, and those who are going in the days and weeks ahead. We're excited to continue the journey!"
"Dune" has earned over $220 million globally at the box office.
Denis Villeneuve will return to direct, produce, and co-screenwrite.
