Tyler Perry first created the character of Madea back in 1999 for a play he had written. The hilarious, yet polarizing, older, African American woman is based on Perry's own Mother and Aunt. Writer-director-producer Perry stars in the film that centers around Madea's great-grandson's college graduation, though the celebratory moment hits a halt as hidden secrets and family drama threaten to destroy the happy homecoming.
