It has been reported by Entertainment Weekly that Matthew McConaughey has been offered the role of Magnum P.I., the famous 1980s private investigator, in an upcoming Universal Pictures film.

McConaughey will play Thomas Magnum, the navy seal turned private investigator. The film was written by Rawson Thunder and is tentatively scheduled to have a release date of 2009.
